My sugar poem
For the day you read this
That your tea, your cheeks, the long day ahead
Had a little streak of purple and pink
That anyone who glanced your way
Could see the moment your face flushed as you took in the
sun
That other people’s dogs favored you, the stranger, above other
passersby sharing the sidewalk
That this note I left you made the next sip of your drink
A little sweeter; my sugar poem to you
